First Public Meeting Wednesday on Planned BQE Rehab
The work will focus on 21 bridges between Sands Street and Atlantic Avenue, plus the cantilever structure under Brooklyn Heights.

BROOKLYN, NY — The Department of Transportation will host its first public meeting Wednesday night on its planned rehabilitation of the Brooklyn Queens Expressway between Sands Street in Dumbo and Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn Heights.
The meeting will take place from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the Pfizer Auditorium at NYU's Tandon School of Engineering, located at 5 MetroTech Center.

The work, which isn't expected to start until 2020, will rehabilitate 21 bridges between Sands Street and Atlantic Avenue, as well as the BQE's triple cantilever structure supporting the Brooklyn Heights Promenade.
The project's price tag is currently set at $1.7 billion, as reported in April by the Brooklyn Eagle.

According to the DOT, Wednesday's gathering is just the first of many public meetings on the project.
