Here are the top three stories in Brooklyn Heights-DUMBO today:
- The race for Brooklyn Heights and DUMBO's newly drawn State Senate district is heating up–and Brooklynite is throwing his hat in the ring. Brooklyn Heights resident David Yassky, who previously served in the governor's office, is running, although he does not appear to have launched his campaign website. In Staten Island, two candidates, Jessica Scarcella-Spanton and Bianca Rajpersaud are racking up endorsements against one another. Staten Island accounts for the greater part of the oddly-shaped district. (SILive.com)
- The restoration of the Downtown Brooklyn restaurant Gage & Tollner, which was completed last year, will receive an award from the NYC Landmarks Conservancy in April. The restaurant, a Brooklyn staple for over 100 years, briefly became a fast-food joint and jewelry store before restoration began in 2019. (Brooklyn Daily Eagle)
- DUMBO is the place to be to find a public bathroom in New York City — at least according to Fodor's Travel. The site mentions the now closed location of Brooklyn Roasting, as well as the Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy's environmental education center. (Fodor's Travel)
