Here are the top three stories in Brooklyn Heights-DUMBO today:
- A new residential conversion development project at 168 Plymouth Street in DUMBO is nearing completion, and reports are that it's already 70% full. It includes 46 homes, including several lavish penthouses. (Real Estate Weekly)
- The GOP is planning to sue New York State over the newly-approved redistricting lines that they say are gerrymandered by Democrats. Among the districts that saw radical changes this cycle is that of Brooklyn Heights/DUMBO's Congresswoman Nydia Velazquez, who used to represent Chinatown in Manhattan and Sunset Park in Brooklyn. Now she represents neither, and it's for that and various other reasons that some immigrant groups are considering joining the GOP in suing the state. (Gothamist)
- Recently the New York Times wrote a real-estate guide to Boerum Hill, describing the quaint neighborhood as a "village in a city." In the past the neighborhood was described by real estate insiders as "in the Brooklyn Heights vicinity," but has since taken on its own identity. (New York Times)
