Here are the top four stories in Brooklyn Heights-DUMBO today:

  1. Brooklyn Heights and DUMBO might be getting a new State Senator–IDC member Diane Savino, who currently represents Coney Island and surrounding southern Brooklyn areas. The new district lines might be drawn with the intention of leading a more progressive politician to represent the district. The Independent Democratic Caucus in Albany is notorious for voting with Republican members on many issues. (Brooklyn Paper)
  2. Despite receiving a multi-million-dollar renovation last summer, the NYC ferry station in DUMBO has had to close five times due to "mechanical issues." That's a common pattern across the city, as the Environmental Development Corporation (EDC) subsidizes each $2.75 ride with over $8 in spending. (AMNY)
  3. A new interactive art instillation outside of St. Ann's Warehouse explores white supremacy, just in time for Black History Month. (Broadway World)
  4. Pickleball, known by some as the fastest growing sport in America, has arrived in Brooklyn Bridge Park. The popular game is a combination of ping pong, badminton, and tennis. (Brooklyn Daily Eagle)
