- It's official–Brooklyn Heights's Rite Aid is closing its doors for good on February 10th. It looks like the aisles are already starting to clear out. The nearest existing location is at 182 Smith Street. (Brooklyn Heights Blog)
- Lincoln Restler brought the Commissioner of Small Businesses to the Clark Street subway station to meet with the mom-and-pop business owners that are struggling to stay afloat during the station's extended closure. He promised to find them solutions – presumably in the form of grants or some form of rent aid. (Twitter)
- Neighbors and politicians are urging Governor Kathy Hochul to deny permits to a new fossil fuel plant in Greenpoint. Recently, New York State has denied permits for 'peaker' plants in Astoria, and an energy company voluntarily pulled out of a project in Gowanus. Now, siting a 2019 law that calls for New York to drastically lower its carbon emissions, lawmakers are calling on the state to do the same thing in Greenpoint. (Brooklyn Paper)
