Here are the top three stories today in Brooklyn Heights-DUMBO:
- Tenants across Northern Brooklyn have concerns about a private equity firm, Greenbrook Properties, that's been buying up large amounts of buildings throughout the borough, evicting tenants with little notice, and jacking up rents. Recently Greenbrook purchased a building on Pineapple Street in Brooklyn Heights. When Councilman Lincoln Restler visited it he reported that, of its 28 units, 25 were empty. The only three that were occupied had tenants with rent regulation. (Brooklyn Paper)
- The New York City Department of Environmental Protection is reportedly planning to consider loosening rules regulating idling cars — which according to Brooklyn Heights Blog has already been a source of pollution on the narrow streets of The Heights. (Brooklyn Heights Blog)
- Some subway passengers were stuck on trains for over 90 minutes on Monday morning, due to a signal malfunction at West 4th Street. The effects were felt over in Brooklyn as well, including on the F and G trains. (AMNY)
