Video: 65-Year-Old Man Randomly Punched in Brooklyn Heights by Passing Pedestrian
The man was walking in front of 99 Joralemon St. when he was punched, cutting his eye and sending him to the hospital, police said.

BROOKLYN HEIGHTS, BROOKLYN — A 65-year-old man walking along Joralemon Street earlier this month was punched in the face, seemingly at random — and on Tuesday, police released video of the assault.
The man was walking in front of 99 Joralemon St. at about 11:15 p.m. when he was approached by a group of three men and one woman walking in the opposite direction, police said.

At that point, one of the men in the group cocked back his fist and punched the victim in the face, police said, breaking his glasses, cutting his left eye, and sending him tumbling over a low fence. The group of four then casually walked away.
The victim was taken to a hospital, treated and released, police said.

Detectives describe the assailant as an adult black male standing about five-feet-ten-inches tall and weighing about 160 pounds. He was last seen wearing black sneakers and a white t-shirt.

This assault took place in the NYPD's 84th Precinct, which covers Brooklyn Heights. Through July 10, major crimes were collectively down about 13.5 percent in the 84th compared to the same time period last year.
A total of 75 felony assaults were reported in the precinct through July 10, compared to 78 during the same period in 2015.
