Hicksville Stimulates STEM Learning
Pilot summer learning program hoped to get students interested in STEM-related (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) fields.
As part of a pilot summer learning program, students from Hicksville High School have been conducting STEM-related (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) lessons for middle school students at the Hicksville Public Library.
The collaboration is designed to provide the younger students with the opportunity to foster interest in STEM fields and to supplement their lessons during the school year. Lessons are comprised of interactive activities, workshops and presentations encompassing a wide variety of areas, such as coding, robotics, programming, physics and geometry.
The Hicksville Tech Squad, comprised of seniors Navneet Lingala (co-founder), Adithya Ajith (co-founder), Priyansh Raval, Amith Anugu and Avik Gomes, and high school alumnus Adil Ansari, has volunteered its time to conduct the lessons throughout the summer.
