Officer Shoots, Kills Dog; 3 Bitten In Nassau County
The second dog was removed by animal control.

A dog was shot and killed by officers after police say the animal and another dog bit three people in Hicksville on Friday afternoon.
According to authorities, two women walking, ages 45 and 62, were attacked by two large dogs near Newbridge Road and James Street at 2:49 p.m.
While assisting the women, police saw the dogs running and later enter an open door of a Williams Street home, police say.

Officers entered the home and saw one of the dogs barking and growling at the occupants, who were yelling, police say.
The dog bit a 63-year-old man and also began to approach a woman holding an 11-month-old child in an aggressive manner, police say.

When an officer stepped in front of the dog to protect the woman and child, police say the dog lunged towards him. The officer retaliated by shooting and killing the dog, police say.
Police secured the second dog outside the Williams Street home and it was removed by animal control.
Three people who were bitten were taken to a local hospital to be treated for their injuries.
The owner of the dog, Hicksville Resident Chiranjeev Roddey, was issued two appearance tickets: unlicensed dog and failure to control dog.
