2 Rescued From Overturned Sailboat In Cold Spring Harbor: Police

The two occupants were safely brought back to shore.

COLD SPRING HARBOR, NY — Two people were saved after their boat overturned in Cold Spring Harbor on Wednesday afternoon, Nassau police said.

A 911 caller reported an overturned sailboat in distress in the waters of the harbor around 6 p.m. Nassau County Marine 7 found the disabled 14-foot sailboat. Bay constables helped the two occupants and safely brought them to Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Park. The occupants were not injured and declined medical attention. SeaTow towed the vessel back to the marina.

"The Nassau County Police Department recommends that operators of personal watercraft always be cognizant of their navigational surroundings, when sunset is and to have all the proper safety equipment onboard," the department wrote.
