Central Islip Motorcyclist Seriously Injured in Huntington Station Crash: Police

A Central Islip man was hospitalized after his motorcycle collided with a car on West Jericho Turnpike Thursday afternoon, police say.

HUNTINGTON STATION, NY — A motorcyclist was seriously injured in a motor vehicle crash Thursday afternoon in Huntington Station, according to Suffolk County police.

Police said Thomas Longaro, 39, of Central Islip, was operating a 2007 Suzuki motorcycle eastbound on West Jericho Turnpike when it struck a 2024 Acura that was also traveling eastbound, in front of 217 West Jericho Turnpike, at about 2:47 p.m.

Longaro was transported to Huntington Hospital with serious injuries, police said.

The driver of the Acura, identified as Christopher Arebalo, 48, of Jackson Heights, Queens, was not injured.

Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks as part of the investigation, police said.

Suffolk County Police Second Squad detectives are continuing to investigate the crash and are asking anyone with information to contact the squad at 631-854-8252.
