Driver Hits 2 Pedestrians, Critically Injuring 1, In Huntington

The crash occurred on Wednesday night.

A man was driving a Audi convertible when he struck two pedestrians, critically injuring one, in Huntington on Wednesday evening, police say.

According to authorities, James Ash, 63, of Huntington Bay, was driving his 2015 vehicle northbound on New York Avenue when his car struck a man and a woman who were crossing the street, between Gerard Street and Union Place, at 6:28 p.m.

The woman was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital where she is in critical condition. The man was taken to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow where he is in stable condition. Ash was not injured.

The car was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing.
