Elderly Man Killed in Huntington Station Crash
The incident occurred Thursday afternoon.

An elderly man was killed in a Huntington Station crash Thursday afternoon, authorities said.
Suffolk County Police say Salvatore Tornatore was driving a 2008 Cadillac west on East Jericho Turnpike, just west of Engelke Avenue, when his Cadillac entered the eastbound lane and struck a car carrier trailer at about 2:30 p.m.
Tornatore, 94, of Huntington Station, was transported to Huntington Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the truck, Michael Nicienski, 45, of Rhode Island, was not injured and remained at the scene, police said.

The Cadillac was impounded for a safety check. The Highway Patrol Motor Carrier Safety Team performed a safety check on the car carrier trailer at the scene. There was no apparent damage to the six vehicles that were transported on the trailer at the time of the crash, police said.
The investigation is continuing.
