An organization opposed to the installation of smart meters is meeting Wednesday night to explain its views.
Smart meters are devices that communicate directly between a home and the utility company. Opposition to them, on health, cost and privacy grounds, has developed in several states around the country.
The Long Island Power Authority expects to complete the installation of 2,000 of them by June 1 along Route 110 in Huntington and Babylon.
The group SAVE: Long Island will meet at 6 p.m. at the South Huntington Public Library.
