Harborfields HS Music Students Perform At Pennsylvania State Capitol
"Our students have worked hard over the past few months to prepare for this experience and we are all extremely proud of them."
GREENLAWN, NY — Members of the Harborfields High School marching band, kickline, vocal ensemble, and chamber orchestra traveled to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, to perform at the Pennsylvania State Capitol on Nov. 8, the school district announced.
The vocal ensemble, under the direction of Clare Sullivan, and chamber orchestra, under the direction of Greg Antonelli, performed inside the rotunda. The marching band and kickline, under the direction of Allison Scilla, Dan Bilawsky, Joe Hinton, and Jackie Best, performed on the front steps of the Capitol. The music groups have practiced for weeks to get ready for this distinguished performance.
"Student travel plays a crucial role in shaping personal growth, broadening perspectives, and fostering meaningful connections," Scilla said in a news release. "Traveling with peers or as part of a group fosters teamwork, communication, and a sense of shared purpose, helping students forge lasting friendship and build strong relationships. Our students have worked hard over the past few months to prepare for this experience and we are all extremely proud of them."
