GREENLAWN, NY — Music students from Thomas J. Lahey Elementary School, Old Field Middle School, and Harborfields High School have been selected to participate in the Suffolk County Music Educators Association’s (SCMEA) All-County festivals, the Harborfields School District announced.

Each year, a large group of talented musicians take part in the All-County festival. This year, an
incredible 70 Harborfields students spanning grades 5 through 12 will represent the district at the festival concerts. Students are selected based on how well they did at their NYSSMA solo adjudications last spring.

These musicians, recognized as some of the best in the area in their grade levels and divisions, attended their first SCMEA rehearsal on March 1, kicking off Music in our Schools month.

"We're extremely proud of these students and what they've achieved in regard to their SCMEA
All-County status," K-12 Music Department Coordinator Dan Bilawsky said in a news release. "This recognition is a testament to their tremendous determination and efforts, the work of the district’s highly dedicated music staff, and the contributions and support of the entire Harborfields community, both within and beyond our school walls."

The students will have two additional rehearsals and perform in concert with their SCMEA ensembles on Sunday, March 9 at Northport High School.
