Health Fair Set in South Huntington

Puppet shows, school food display and screenings scheduled at Whitman High School.

The Whitman High School health and wellness fair gets underway Thursday, offering puppetry, poster contests,  food displays and health tips.

While the fair runs from 4-8 p.m. at the high school, a St. Francis Hospital outreach bus will be available at the District Office, 60 Weston St., Huntington Station, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., offering free health screenings.

Dr. Howard Schneider, with his dental health puppet show “Let’s Take a
Brush Break," geared for children preschool through third grade. The show features “live” puppets and audience participation. Shows are at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. in room 223.

Poster Contest
All entries will be on display with awards given at the primary, intermediate, middle and high school levels.

District  Food Services Department Display
Display of healthy school lunches offered in all cafeterias plus a food tasting, with an opportunity to vote on entrée. Winner will be included in next month’s school lunch menu.

Also expected to be on hand are representatives of drug and alcohol counseling services, medical rehabilitation services, massage, swim safety, cancer and other organizations.
