Heavy Blaze Breaks Out In Detached Garage In Greenlawn
It took firefighters nearly two hours to get the blaze under control on Thursday, fire officials say.
Firefighters battled a heavy blaze in a detached garage of a home in Greenlawn on Thursday.
According to fire officials responded to the Smith Street location to find a fire in the garage, which was used as an artist's studio and storage area, at 5:48 p.m.
About 50 firefighters with EMS personnel responded to the scene and aggressively attacked the fire while protecting the neighboring property, fire officials say.

The blaze was declared under control at 7:24 p.m. There were no injuries reported.
The cause of the blaze is under investigation by the Huntington Fire Marshal and Suffolk Police Arson Squad.

Four trucks and three ambulances were at the scene. Units were under the command of Chief Mike Bellis supported by Assistant Chiefs Angelo Santomauro and Pete Miller.
The Centerport Fire Department assisted with an engine to the scene, and the Dix Hills Fire Department and Huntington Community First Aid Squad provided standby coverage during the alarm. Cyanide Response Team Paramedics from East Northport FD, Dix Hills FD and Commack Ambulance were also on the scene, according to fire department public information officer Steve Silverman.
