Huntington Hotel Closer to Fruition
Town planning board grants conditional site-plan approval for 55-room hotel.
The town planning board granted conditional site-plan approval for a 55 room hotel at the site of the old Town Hall on Main Street recently, according to Newsday.
A four story addition will be built behind the building above a parking lot on Stewart Avenue, according to the plans, and will be connected via a glass atrium. The existing building will be house a lobby, conference room, bar, and reception area.
As a condition of the approval, hotel developer Old Town Hall Operating LIc, must make improvements to Stewart Avenue and Gerard Street including new sidewalks. The company must also pay a $75,000 fee to the town to offset the impact on parking. Fifty five additional parking spaces were granted under a parking variance.

The Old Town Hall, built in 1910, was designed by prominent architect Julian Peabody and is part of the National Register of Historic Places. It is part of the historic overlay district which allows historic sites to be utilized for purposes other than those permitted by right in the zoning district.

The annual tax levy on the half-acre property and current building is $56,926, according to town records.
