Huntington Lacrosse Beats Rival

Blue Devils boys lacrosse rallies past Glenn, 8-6, Tuesday.

Huntington earned its first win of the season, handing host Glenn a 8-6 loss in a Suffolk Division II boys lacrosse game Tuesday.

The Blue Devils (1-2 overall, 1-1 division) trailed 3-1 after one quarter but roared back.

Huntington midfielder John Vanderschuyt won 6 of 12 faceoffs against Bryant University-bound Kenny Massa. Three players – sophomore attack Christian Fiordelisi, Pat Reilly and Billy Martin – each scored twice for the Blue Devils.

Rutgers-bound goalie T.J. Greenhill made 11 saves as Huntington snapped a two-game losing streak to rival Glenn (2-1, 1-1). 

“The defense matched up with Mike Tufano and Bobby Maddia,” Huntington Coach Paul McDermott said. “I felt we had a good outing today and I know we will continue to get better throughout the season.”

Huntington hosts Shoreham-Wading River Thursday at 4:30 p.m. at Breezy Park.
