Event: Yoga for Osteoporosis with Danielle Tarantola
Location: Main Auditorium
Dates: Wednesdays, July 10, 17, 24, 31; August 7, 14, 21 (7 sessions)
Time: 9:30 – 10:30 a.m.
Description: Traditional Yoga practice for the middle phase of life and beyond considers preserving our function and delaying or, when possible, preventing the onset of future suffering.
Join Yoga Therapist Danielle Tarantola for this workshop, the purpose of which is to promote bone and muscle strength, develop awareness so you’re more mindful of your movements, help connect to and strengthen your center of gravity, keep you steady and balanced and care for your back by encouraging better posture, so there's less pressure on the joints. This course will focus on hips, wrists, legs and spine, which are the bones prone to breakage, as well as reduce
stress, which releases hormones that contribute to systemic deterioration. Registration required. Open to all. This series of 7 sessions has a $35 fee.

Description: Tai Chi is a Chinese form of exercise that helps reduce tension, improve balance, and increase vitality. It incorporates breathing with slow and fluid movements, emphasizing correct posture and body mechanics. By placing our mind on our movements, we start to learn how to control ourselves. Description: "Guests of the Nation" by Frank O’Connor (1903-1966). During Ireland’s struggle for independence from Britain, two English soldiers, Belcher and Hawkins, are taken prisoner. They befriend their captors and fear reprisal when it is learned that Irish Republican Army soldiers are captured and executed by the British. Brian Cleeve has called this story, first published in 1931 in the Atlantic, “the seminal story in modern Irish literature."
