He had a way with people, and made a point of giving back, those who knew him say.
“He was a tremendous, wonderful young man,” said Councilwoman Susan Berland, who’d hired John as her intern, after hearing him make a speech at a Young Leaders event in Huntington. “He was the sweetest, nicest kid.”

“He was a really energetic young man,” said Kevin Thorbourne, co-founder of Young Leaders in Huntington.
Thorbourne said Bosco, who’d also worked at summer camp, was “great with kids,” and was also very involved in community service and speaking frankly with peers about taking responsibility in life.
Michelle Bosco, John Bosco’s mother, told Newsday that her son was “the rock of the family.”
“It’s a sad occasion for his family but also our community – he was a great friend to a lot of people,” Thorbourne said.
“He could have made a tremendous impact on our community,” Thorbourne added. “He didn’t get a chance to live out his dreams.”
