Huntington Police Blotter: Man Steals Jacket Worth $1.6K

ALSO: Porch pirate steals package containing two phones, police say.

HUNTINGTON, NY — Curious about what's going on in your neighborhood? These are recent incidents reported in the Huntington area from Sept. 2 through Sept. 8.

The Suffolk County Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

  • Sept. 6: Lawrence Davis, 38, of Flushing, stole a jacket valued at more than $1,600 from Saks Fifth Avenue, at 230 Walt Whitman Road, Huntington Station, around 1:35 p.m. Aug. 7, police said. He was arrested and charged with fourth-degree grand larceny: value of property more than $1,000.

Incidents

  • Sept. 6: Grand larceny (third-degree) was reported on Jericho Turnpike in Huntington at 11:43 a.m. A check was washed and cashed by someone, police said.
  • Sept. 4: Grand larceny (fourth-degree) was reported on Stratton Drive in Huntington Station at 2:37 p.m. A porch pirate stole a package containing two phones after the package was delivered to a woman, police said. The theft happened seconds after the delivery truck dropped the package off, according to the woman's security camera, police said.
