Huntington Police Blotter: Man Opens Fraudulent Line Of Credit

ALSO: Fraudulent charges made on someone's credit card; and someone wrote a check out under someone else's account, police say.

HUNTINGTON, NY — Curious about what's going on in your neighborhood? These are recent incidents reported in the Huntington area from Sept. 9 through Sept. 15.

The Suffolk County Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

  • Sept. 14: Miguel Brito, 35, of Trenton, New Jersey, tried to open a line of credit with a fraudulent passport card under a different name to purchase items from Best Buy on Walt Whitman Road in Huntington Station at 3:40 p.m. Sept. 14, police said. He was arrested and charged with third-degree grand larceny: property value exceeds $3,000.

Incidents

  • Sept. 12: Grand larceny (third-degree) was reported on Chairman Street in Huntington Station at 11:03 a.m. Someone wrote a check from someone else's credit card account and cashed it without permission, police said.
  • Sept. 10: Identity theft (first-degree) was reported on Walden Place in Huntington at 12:15 p.m. Fraudulent charges were made on someone's credit card, police said.
  • Sept. 10: Grand larceny (third-degree) was reported on Cold Spring Hills Road in Huntington at 4:30 p.m. Someone received a scam phone call from what they believed to be Chase Bank, police said.
