Huntington Woman Among Victims In France Acid Attack

Four Boston College students were treated and released following the Sunday attack.

A Huntington woman is reportedly among the four young women from Boston College who were the victims of an acid attack in France on Sunday.

School officials identified the students as BC juniors Charlotte Kaufman, Courtney Siverling and Michelle Krug, who are enrolled in Boston College's Paris program, and junior Kesley Korsten, who is a student at the Copenhagen Business School in Denmark.

Kaufman, 21, is a Huntington resident studying abroad in France, according to Newsday.

In a statement, the college said that the students were treated for burns in a hospital in Marseille, where the attack took place, and have since been released.

Kaufman's father told Newsday that his daughter and the three other students were visiting Marseille for the weekend and all of them are now "fine."

“It appears that the students are fine, considering the circumstances, though they may require additional treatment for burns,” Nick Gozik, who directs BC’s Office of International Programs, said in the statement. “We have been in contact with the students and their parents and remain in touch with French officials and the U.S. Embassy regarding the incident."

A 41-year-old woman, believed to have mental health problems, was arrested in the assault, and authorities do not believe the attack was motivated by terrorism.
