Meet The Charity: Handler Hope Foundation Of Huntington Funds Breast Cancer Research
Darren Handler started the charity in memory of his wife, Lauren. Its goal is to "change the course of cancer" and "those impacted by it."

HUNTINGTON, NY — Local charities are the unsung heroes of our communities. Nonprofit and not-for-profit organizations strive to create lasting change and positively impact the lives of those around them.

We fund cancer research and raise awareness for HER2 positive and NNN breast cancer.
What inspired you to start your charity?
The loss of my wife Lauren to HER2 positive breast cancer metastasizing to her brain.
How can people help you accomplish your organization's mission or get involved in events?
Donating or volunteering.
What is the most memorable moment you've had since starting your organization?
Seeing the cancer center staff taking a minute to enjoy themselves at an event. They work so hard caring for our community, so it was great to see them be able to relax for a minute.
What else would you like people to know about your charity?
We are 100% volunteer army.
