Moneyless Man Tries To Rob Gas Station At Gunpoint In Huntington Station

The attempted robbery occurred on Monday night.

A man tried to rob a Huntington Station gas station at gunpoint after he said he had no money to pay for gas on Monday night, police say.

According to authorities, a man in a vehicle pulled into CT Gas Sale, located at 571 East Jericho Turnpike, and requested gas, but told the employee he did not have any money after receiving the gas at 9:35 p.m.

Police say the man drove to a different part of the station, called over the employee, displayed what appeared to be a gun and demanded money.

The employee walked away from the car and the would-be robber fled the scene in his vehicle with no proceeds, police say.

The attempted robbery is under investigation by Suffolk County Police Second Squad detectives.
