School officials, health care professionals and home inspectors are expected to be on hand Wednesday at a county-run bedbug symposium Wednesday at the Morrelly Homeland Security Center in Bethpage.
Dr. Lawrence Eisenstein, commissioner of the Nassau County Department of Health, and Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice are scheduled to speak, as are representatives from pest control firms and programs.
According to Newsday, which highlighted the workshop, the Nassau County department of health has responded to 32 bedbug complaints in rental properties so far this year. That statistic doesn't include complaints in incorporated villages and cities.Â
