No Injuries in Huntington Station Strip Mall Blaze

Firefighters battled an early morning blaze that damaged several stores in a Huntington Station strip mall Wednesday, authorities said.

Rescuers were on the scene at 212 West Jericho Turnpike near Cager Place 2:50 a.m. More than 75 firefighters from Huntington Manor, Huntington, Melville, Greenlawn and Dix Hills battled the blaze with 10 trucks in sub-freezing temperatures, officials said. Members of the Huntington Community First Aid Squad were also on the scene.

Halesite, Cold Spring Harbor and Syosset firefighters provided standby coverage for Huntington Manor during the alarm, officials said.

Units were under the command of Huntington Manor Fire Chief Frank McQuade with the support of Assistant Chiefs Mike DePasquale, Jon Hoffmann and Chuck Brady, officials said.

There were no injuries reported, officials said.

The Suffolk Police Arson Squad and Huntington Town Fire Marshal are investigating. Suffolk County Fire-Rescue Coordinators were also on the scene assisting, officials said.
