Police ID Woman Killed, Left In Suitcase On Long Island: PD

A suitcase containing the woman's remains was found Tuesday morning, police say. Her cause of death is to be determined.

HUNTINGTON, NY — Seikeya Jones was identified as the person found in a suitcase in a wooded area in Huntington on Tuesday, Suffolk police said.

The cause of death of Jones, 31, who is without a known address, is still being determined by the Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s Office, Suffolk police said.

Officers were called to a wooded area next to 320 Nassau Road at 11:50 a.m. where they found a body in a suitcase next to an apartment complex, Suffolk County police said.

Anyone with information was asked to call Homicide Squad detectives at 631-852-6392 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.

Chris Smocer told NBC 4 New York that her daughter smelled a strong odor while walking and realized it was coming from a suitcase, the outlet previously reported. The woman called Smocer to say they should call the police, NBC 4 reported. A foot or a shoe appeared to be hanging out of the luggage, NBC 4 said.

A woman told reporters Thursday that her daughter was a friend of Jones, Huntington Now reported. A man living in an apartment building near where Jones's body was found said he had video of her in the building's hallway, and later, of someone bringing a suitcase out of the building, Pam Robinson of Huntington Now reported.
