With Huntington Board of Education incumbents Rich McGrath and John Paci III deciding not to seek re-election, voters will choose two new trustees in the May 21 election.
The candidates are former board president William Dwyer, Jennifer Mosden, Bari Fehrs and Deniqua Crichlow.
Patch asked all four candidates about their work, involvement and contributions to the district and what they thought they could accomplish if elected to the board.
BARI FEHRS
Work:
Office manager for a private psychiatry practice.
Contributions to the district:
I've been involved with the school district for over 10 years when my oldest child started Kindergarten. I've been regularly attending school board meetings for the past 9 years. I've been a PTA President at Southdown Primary and Finley Middle School.  I am currently serving my third year as PTA Council President. During this time I have served on the district's Comprehensive Health Advisory Committee, District Share Decision Making Committee and the District Safety Committee.  I've been a volunteer with the Blue Devil Booster Club for the past 3 years. I've implemented several programs in our schools that have had a positive effect on our district.  Additionally I have participated in various workshops and conferences that include local and state legislators to advocate for Huntington fair share of state aid.
Other:
I have 3 children attending Huntington schools. Â My son Max is a senior and my son Will is a freshman, both at the high school, and my daughter Cameron is in 6th grade at Woodhull Intermediate.
What I can contribute:
I believe my experience thus far with the school district has given me a strong foundation to continue to be an advocate for the students in our schools and their families in the community. Â I have both the institutional knowledge of the district and of current educational issues to successfully serve the interests of students, parents and taxpayers.
