South Huntington Celebrates Homecoming Weekend With Family Fun And School Spirit
Festivities kick off Friday with a carnival, bonfire and Powder Puff game.

HUNTINGTON STATION, N.Y. —South Huntington's annual Homecoming celebration returns this weekend with two days of festivities, school pride, and family fun at Walt Whitman High School, 301 West Hills Road, Huntington Station.
The excitement begins Friday, Oct. 24, with a community carnival at 3:15 p.m. outside the high school. Admission is free, and the event will feature carnival games, a petting zoo, inflatable rides, and performances by Zabo's Circus.
At 6:15 p.m., families can gather for the annual bonfire, followed by the traditional Powder Puff football game at 7 p.m. Admission to the game is $5, with proceeds benefiting the school's General Student Organization.

Senior and junior girls will face off in the friendly touch-football rivalry, while the boys take the field at halftime for a spirited cheerleading performance. The evening will conclude with a fireworks display lighting up the night sky.
Festivities continue Saturday, Oct. 25, when three distinguished alumni will be inducted into the South Huntington Hall of Fame:

- Nicholas Ciappetta, Class of 1997
The Hall of Fame luncheon and induction ceremony will take place at 1 p.m. in Whitman's South Cafeteria. The honorees will also take part in the Homecoming Parade, stepping off at 4 p.m. along Jericho Turnpike before returning to the high school.
The festivities will culminate with the Walt Whitman Wildcats varsity football game against Riverhead at 6 p.m.
