South Huntington School Budget Preview For 2024-25

See what's on the ballot, including the school budget and school board candidates, before you head to the polls on Tuesday.

SOUTH HUNTINGTON, NY — Huntington Station and South Huntington residents are set to head to the polls on Tuesday, May 21.

The vote is scheduled at Walt Whitman High School from 2 to 9 p.m. — a change from the traditional 3 to 10 p.m.

The South Huntington School District's proposed spending plan for the 2024-25 school year is $217,524,666. That's a 4.04 percent increase from the current budget. The tax levy is $126,629,190, or a 2.4 percent increase from last year's.

The Town of Huntington will determine final assessed valuation in the fall. The rate will vary by household with an estimated monthly average increase of $24.04 for the 2024-2025 year.

Three candidates are running for three South Huntington Board of Education seats: Frederick Scragg, Linda LaCara, and Erin Meijer.
