Man Stalked Teen For More Than A Month In Huntington Station: PD
The man would try to communicate with the girl at her bus stop, police say.

A Huntington Station man was arrested on Friday morning for stalking a teenage girl waiting at her bus stop for more than a month, police say.
Police say, the girl, who attends Stimson Middle School, was waiting at her bus stop, at the corner of 6th Avenue and 11th Street, at 7:30 a.m. on Thursday when she was approached by 25-year-old Celso Garcia Mendez who passed her a note that requested her personal information.
The girl took the note, fled the area and did not have any further contact with the man.

An investigation into the incident led to the arrest of Garcia Mendez, who police say was attempting to communicate with the girl at her bus stop for more than a month.
Garcia Mendez was charged with fourth-degree stalking and endangering the welfare of a child. He will be arraigned Friday in First District Court in Central Islip.

After the South Huntington Union Free School District was notified of Thursday's incident, they released a statement on their website: "We ask that you take this opportunity to discuss personal safety with your child and of course, report any suspicious activity to the school district and Suffolk County Police."
