Syosset Students Learn with An International Flair

South Grove Elementary School embrace diverse cultures, languages, games and foods.

Students at South Grove Elementary School, in the Syosset School District, learned all about the world’s diverse cultures, languages, games and foods on Feb. 6, when the school held its International Clusters Day.

From traditional El Salvadorian dancing, to Indian board games, to Isreali currency and music, the elementary school transformed itself into a virtual United Nations, as each classroom featured a different part of the world. Students moved throughout the different stations and took part in a number of arts and craft assignments aimed at exposing them to the world’s diversity.

International Clusters day was held in conjunction with a national effort to celebrate the cultures and traditions of the world. The clusters included English soccer, Chinese calligraphy, a tutorial on Kazakhstan, Italian Bocce games, Caribbean sports, Indian holidays, Greek theater, Irish crafts and Italian artists and many more.
