HUNTINGTON, NY— On Thursday, the 500th COVID-19 patient to be discharged from Huntington Hospital went home to applause and celebrations from the staff. Nelson Maldonado is a Central Islip resident who spent 11 days in the hospital.According to a representative for Northwell Health, Maldonado never had to be put on a ventilator. In this video he is reunited with his family and young child after being wheeled through the hospital halls amid staff applause and cheers.
