LI Weekend Weather: 100 Percent Precipitation, Then Sunny Skies

LONG ISLAND, NY — This week, Long Islanders enjoyed a few sunny days as a warm welcome to Spring. However, it's time to trade those sunglasses in for an umbrella.

This weekend, Long Island can expect showers beginning Friday morning, and later into the night.

Rain will continue to pour on Saturday, with a 100 percent chance of precipitation. Don't forget to prep your tall rain boots, because Long Island can expect between a quarter and half an inch of rain.

Sunday give us a hint once more that Spring has spring, with a high of 57 and sunny skies for most of the day.

Friday: A chance of showers between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 51. North wind 7 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.

Friday Night: A 30 percent chance of showers after 2 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 39. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming northeast after midnight.

Saturday: Showers, mainly after 8 a.m. High near 49. Breezy, with an east wind 16 to 23 mph, with gusts as high as 33 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Saturday Night: Showers likely before 2 a.m. Cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a low around 42. Breezy. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 57. Breezy.

Sunday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 38.

Monday: Partly sunny, with a high near 52.
