• High Winds Cause Power Outages Across Suffolk County: PSEG (patch.com) — Hundreds of Islip residents lost power Friday as high winds and heavy rain knocked out electricity to about 612 local customers, with restoration estimates stretching toward midnight Saturday. The storm left nearly 9,000 Suffolk County customers in the dark overall, as PSEG Long Island crews worked through hazardous gusts that topped 50 mph across the region.
