Services Held To Honor Beloved Islip Fire Chief
William "Billy" Moon, 47, was laid to rest on Long Island.

ISLIP, NY — Services to honor the life of William "Billy" Moon were held Wednesday.
Visitation for William, "Billy" Moon, 47, of Islip, was scheduled to take place Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Chapey Funeral Home, located at 200 East Main St. in East Islip, FDNY said on social media.
A funeral service is planned Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, located at 9 N. Clinton Ave. in Bay Shore.

Moon was preparing for a drill inside his firehouse – Rescue Company 2 – located at 1815 Sterling Place in Brooklyn, last week when he fell about 20 feet and suffered a serious head injury, officials said.
New York City Mayor Eric Adams later announced that Moon would not survive his injuries, and his family decided to donate his organs.

He is survived by his wife, Kristina, and their two children, ages 8 and 10.
The Islip Fire Department said in a post on social media that he was often referred to as a "Firefighter’s Firefighter", and was the “was the heart and soul of the Department, a dedicated and exceptional firefighter, and a mentor to many whose impact will be missed.”
