Wind Advisory On LI As Nor'Easter Brings 50 MPH Gusts, Snow

LONG ISLAND, NY — A Wind Advisory has been issued for Long Island, as snow from the Nor'easter storm begins to fall, the National Weather Service said.

From 8 p.m. Tuesday, until 11 a.m. Wednesday, Northwest winds are expected to be 20 to 30 mph, with gusts up to 50 mph.

Snow will continue until 2 p.m., and rain is expected to fall until 5 p.m.

Here's the expected weather report for the next two days:

Tuesday: Rain and snow before 2pm, then rain between 2pm and 5pm, then rain and snow after 5pm. High near 38. Wind chill values between 25 and 30. Windy, with a west wind 24 to 29 mph, with gusts as high as 41 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Tuesday Night: Snow before 8pm, then a chance of snow showers between 8pm and 2am. Low around 33. Wind chill values between 20 and 25. Breezy, with a northwest wind 21 to 24 mph, with gusts as high as 40 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Wednesday: Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 44. Wind chill values between 20 and 30. Windy, with a northwest wind around 26 mph, with gusts as high as 41 mph.

Wednesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 29. Wind chill values between 20 and 25. Blustery, with a northwest wind 15 to 22 mph, with gusts as high as 33 mph.
