Elmhurst Man Dies After Being Hit By Car On Union Turnpike: NYPD
The 71-year-old man was crossing Union Turnpike near 175th Street when he was hit by a 2014 Nissan Altima, police say.

ELMHURST, QUEENS -- A 71-year-old Elmhurst man died after being struck by a car while walking along a roadway in Fresh Meadows, police said.
Philip O'Reilly was crossing Union Turnpike near 175 Street against the pedestrian signal when he was run down by a 2014 Nissan Altima on Jan. 23 at around 10:50 p.m., police told Patch. Cops arrived at the scene to find O'Reilly sprawled out in the roadway with severe injuries to his leg and head.
Medics rushed O'Reilly to Jamaica Hospital, where he was pronounced dead the next day.

The driver that hit him, a 47-year-old man, had been driving west on Union Turnpike in the right lane when he hit O'Reilly, according to the NYPD Highway District's Collision Investigation Squad. The driver stayed on the scene waiting for cops to arrive.
No arrests or summons have been issued for the crash, an NYPD spokesman said.
