Burglar Steals $5K From Sikh Temple In Queens: NYPD

Police are searching for a man who made off with $5,000 in cash, an amplifier, a camera and a microphone from the South Ozone Park temple.

SOUTH OZONE PARK, QUEENS -- The NYPD is searching for a burglar who made off with thousands of dollars in cash and electronics after breaking into a Sikh temple in Queens.

Police said the man slid into the Gurdwara Sant Majha Singh Karamjot Sikh Center through a side window on Wednesday at around 11:15 p.m. Once inside, he swiped $5,000 in cash, an amplifier, a camera and a microphone from the South Ozone temple, authorities said.

The NYPD released surveillance footage of the man, clothed in a black jacket and beanie, pacing the temple at 109-42 VanWyck Expressway before fleeing in an unknown direction. Police estimated he was in his early thirties.
