Queens Father Fatally Shot In Parked Car, Police Say

"The suspicion surrounding his death is crazy and it's the not knowing that has us really messed up."

JAMAICA, QUEENS -- Friends and family are mourning the death of a Queens father to twins who was fatally shot while sitting in his parked Mercedes Benz SUV.

Mohale Ralekhetho, 39, was warming up behind the wheel of his 2015 Mercedes early Saturday after a long morning of shoveling snow when an unknown gunman put a bullet in his neck. Ralekhetho, known among loved ones as C.K., was parked on 207 Street near his Jamaica home at around 4:35 a.m. when the gunman opened fire on his car, police told Patch.

An unidentified 33-year-old man sitting in the passenger seat managed to escape the shooting unscathed, but Ralekhetho was pronounced dead on scene, police said. An NYPD spokesman declined to give details of the events leading up to the shooting, but the New York Daily News reported two shooters were spotted calmly walking up to the SUV before the spray of bullets ensued.

Ralekhetho's cousin, David Sosa, was among many who said they were mystified by the shooting, calling his cousin a "loving father and son."

"The suspicion surrounding his death is crazy and it's the not knowing that has us really messed up," Sosa told Patch. "But we are a praying family, and we know what is in the dark will come to the light."
