Robber Holds Up Bank, Gets Away With Just $23: NYPD

The man passed the bank teller a note that read "Give me all the money now or somebody is getting hurt," police said.

JAMAICA, QUEENS -- A bank robber in Queens likely hoped for more than $23 when he handed the teller a note that read, " Give me all the money now or somebody is getting hurt."

But that's all the man managed to take from the Capital One Bank at 146-21 Jamaica Ave. in a robbery on the afternoon of Dec. 21, police told Patch. In an attempt to catch the amateur robber, the NYPD recently released video footage of the suspect weaving through sidewalk traffic as he bolted from the bank down.

The suspect had initially entered the Capital One in Jamaica at around 1:30 p.m. that day and waited in line for a teller. Once it was his turn, the man passed the teller a note demanding all the bank's money, "or somebody is getting hurt," an NYPD spokeswoman said.

After making another demand out loud for the money, the man snatched $23 in cash before dashing out of the bank and south down Sutphin Boulevard, police said.

Cops described the man as heavy set and standing at around 6'4". He was last seen in a white T-shirt and grey shorts with a yellow stripe down the side.
