Healing Garden Blooms At Nissequogue River State Park

Kings Park residents will soon have a new garden to visit and walk through, specially designed for those struggling through hard times. 

The Nissequogue River State Park Foundation and Commack-Kings Park Rotary club will unveil a new healing garden at the Nissequogue River State Park Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m., Newsday reports. 

The garden is a 35-foot by 35-foot square that contains native plants, large rocks and a crushed rock walking path that overlook the mouth of the Nissequogue River. 

"It's a very quiet corner of the park that very few people go to," John McQuaid, chairman of the Nissequoque River Foundation, told Newsday. "We hope it becomes a place where people go to enjoy the natural beauty of the environment and to pause and reflect."

The foundation and rotary club raised $25,000 in cash and donations of services in order to found the creation of the garden.
