LARCHMONT/MAMARONECK, NY — If you’re like many of your Larchmont/Mamaroneck neighbors, you may spend a good part of the holiday season with your credit card in hand buying gifts for family and friends. Coming up soon is a chance to give back to the local community.

Giving Tuesday, which in 2024 falls on Dec. 3, is a day dedicated to supporting nonprofit and community groups. Since 2012, nonprofits worldwide have used the Tuesday after Thanksgiving to galvanize fundraising, rally volunteers and add momentum to their causes.

Here are nine local nonprofits to consider getting behind on Giving Tuesday:

  • Better Estrogen Health Foundation (Mamaroneck): "to save lives by educating women about estrogen exposures and how genetic nutritional tools may prevent cancer."
  • The Coalition for Understanding Racism through Education (Larchmont/Mamaroneck): "strives to educate our neighbors about the structures and implications of systemic racism in our country’s institutions, as a critical part of dismantling it."
  • Community Resource Center (Mamaroneck): "social services and advocacy organization dedicated to empowering and integrating new immigrants in Westchester County."
  • Emelin Theatre (Mamaroneck): "brings world class performing arts to Westchester County. Promoting a cultural life that entertains and educates our audience, the Emelin presents numerous world class events including all genres of music, comedy, dance, and family theatre, plus a broad range of independent and contemporary film."
  • Fields for Kids (Larchmont): "committed to working with local leaders to maximize access quality fields for recreational activities in our community."
  • Larchmont/Mamaroneck Hunger Task Force: "dedicated to assisting local families who need food. We operate a food pantry that distributes nutritional bags of groceries to residents of Larchmont and Mamaroneck."
