Held Against Her Will, Sexually Assaulted In Mamaroneck Apartment

This weekend, police received a call from a person reporting a woman being held against her will in an unknown location.

VILLAGE OF MAMARONECK, NY — Police rushed to locate a woman who said she was being held against her will over the weekend, leading to a dramatic rescue and the arrest of a Mamaroneck man on rape charges.

The Village of Mamaroneck Police Department says that on Saturday, shortly before 10 a.m., they received a call from a person reporting a woman being held against her will at an unknown location in the village. A police officer who interviewed the caller was able to get more information to pinpoint the potential victim's exact location.

Police responded to a West Boston Post Road apartment building where they found a 22-year-old woman from Port Chester. She told officers that she was being held against her will and that she was sexually assaulted by Francisco Mercado, a 40-year-old Mamaroneck resident.

The woman said that she met the suspect for the first time Friday evening at a local establishment in the village.

Police detained Mercado and took him to police headquarters while detectives investigated the case. Mamaroneck EMS reported to the scene and took the victim to a local hospital for treatment.

Mercado was charged with felony first degree rape, misdemeanor second degree unlawful imprisonment, and misdemeanor criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation. He was arraigned in the Village of Mamaroneck Court and taken to the Westchester County Department of Corrections.
