Leaf Blowers Banned In Village Of Mamaroneck Until End Of September

The ban started on Sunday and continues through the end of the summer with just a few exceptions carved out.

VILLAGE OF MAMARONECK, NY — No Mow May is also the start of a no leaf blower summer in the Village of Mamaroneck.

Beginning May 15, the operation of leaf blowers is prohibited in the Village of Mamaroneck until September 30. This includes all leaf blowers, including gas, electric and vacuum. In addition, Westchester County law requires that landscaping contractors be registered with the county and that leaf blowers meet county emissions regulations. No more than one leaf blower may be operated at any time on property with an area 5000-sq.-ft. or less. No more than three leaf blowers may be operated on any property at any time. Between May 15-Sep. 30, after significant storms or other emergencies, the supervisor of the Mamaroneck Department of Public Works will determine whether the use of leaf blower will be allowed. If allowed, it will not be for more than seven days.
