Local Songstress Advances On Fox's 'The Four: Battle For Stardom'
Larchmont native Cheyenne Elliott is also the cousin of Whitney Houston and granddaughter of Dionne Warwick.
Music lovers, listen up: There’s a new singing competition series on Fox that has all the tell-tale signs of becoming a worldwide phenomenon. “The Four: Battle For Stardom,” which premiered on Thursday, Jan 4, is hosted by Grammy-award-winning solo artist Fergie. The show also features a panel of music industry experts: artists Sean “Diddy” Combs, DJ Khaled and Meghan Trainor, as well as record label head Charlie Walk.
As the competition progresses each week, four super-talented artists will try to defend their coveted spots on the stage, as they are each challenged by new artists determined to replace them. (The studio audience votes on the winner.)
Now in its third week, there is one contestant who is poised to take the center stage by storm. New York native Cheyenne Elliott advanced to the next round last week after her beautiful rendition of “Little Mix” by Wings.

The 23-year-old singer says that her experience singing in front of the show’s panel and live audience was amazing, to say the least.
“I was nervous, but at the same time, I was also very excited,” Elliott told Patch. “And being able to connect with the judges and the audience was priceless.”

The songstress, who grew up in Larchmont, comes from a long line of music greats. Her grandmother is the legendary Dionne Warwick. Her father, David Elliott, is a composer who wrote “Here and Now” for Luther Vandross, and her cousin was none other than the late Whitney Houston.
Elliott said her fascination with music began when she was about 5 years old. In 1994, she got to perform live for the first time in front of thousands of people at her grandmother’s jam-packed summer concert in Coney Island. The duo sang Warwick’s 1986 timeless hit single, “That’s What Friends Are For.”

“I caught the music bug at a very young age,” Elliott shared fondly. “When I was 12 years old, my grandmother started bringing me out on tour. Over the years, she has given me tremendous opportunities to gain experience working on my craft. I’m very thankful to her.”
So, what can we expect from the super-talented artist on the show?
“I feel very blessed that I have been surrounded by great mentors all my life, but at the end of the day, I also know that I have to be my own artist on that stage, and give it my best shot,” Elliott says.
“Top Four: Battle For Stardom” airs on Fox Thursday nights at 8 p.m. EST/PT and 7 p.m. CST.
