Mamaroneck Braces For Storm: Pre-Salting, Parking Fees Waived
The village is asking residents not to park on the street to make clearing the snow easier. Fees will be waived at municipal parking lots.

MAMARONECK, NY — Village officials are asking Mamaroneck residents to avoid parking on the street ahead of tonight's forecasted snowstorm.
To make things a little easier for car owners, the village will temporarily waive fees at municipal parking lots. All Village parking lots will be free beginning at 8 p.m. on Friday and throughout the day on Saturday.
"Please stay off the roads during the storm," Village of Mamaroneck officials wrote in an alert sent Thursday evening. "Please also remember to check-in on elderly neighbors and those who may need assistance."

Winter storm warnings have been issued for the lower Hudson Valley, though there is still a great deal of uncertainty about the complex weather system.

How far west this nor-easter will track as it heads up the East Coast is still unclear, and there is still uncertainty about the duration of moderate and heavy snow banding late tonight into Saturday, the National Weather Service said.

Gale force winds are also in the Sound Shore forecast. Village officials said homeowners should contact Con Edison at 1-800-75-CONED or www.coned.com in the event of a power outage. Downed trees and power lines should be reported to the police desk at 914-777-1122 (press option 3).
Ahead of the storm, crews from the Department of Public Works have been applying brine to Village streets. The Parks Department is pre-salting and brining sidewalks and other high traffic areas in Mamaroneck parks.
After the storm, homeowners are reminded to clear sidewalks and fire hydrants in front of their property within 24 hours of the end of the snowfall. When digging out cars, snow should never be thrown back into the street or on crosswalks.
The Village Recycling Center, including the compost drop-off program, will be closed on Saturday.
